Mezic - Eye/Face Phone Control

Mezic - Eye/Face Phone Control

NDK dev – Freeware – Android
नवीनतम संस्करण

Pointer control through eye tracking is currently in development, while the app presently offers head tracking as the sole method for pointer control.

What is Mezic?
Mezic serves as an accessibility service application, facilitating comprehensive smartphone control via eye and facial movements. The app has been meticulously developed to minimize operational errors and reduce eye strain for users.

How does it work?
The application processes image data from the front-facing camera to gather information on eye blinking and facial angles, ensuring that all processing occurs locally on the device without external data transmission.

Examples of Use
- Adjusting music on a tablet while holding a child.
- Scrolling through recipe applications with hands covered in ingredients.
- Reading e-books on a large smartphone while maintaining a grip on a strap in a crowded train.
- Watching short videos or navigating social media on a smartphone secured with an arm mount while resting due to illness or injury.

How to Use
- Install the app and grant the necessary permissions as instructed.
- Enable Mezic within the "Accessibility" settings.
- Tap the "START" button on the home screen to begin controlling the smartphone through eye and facial movements (a floating bar will appear during operation).
- To halt operations, tap the stop button (square icon) on the floating bar.

Basic Operations
In Mezic, a sound will play at regular intervals when your eyes are closed. Open your eyes after one sound to execute a click. Open your eyes after two sounds for a long press click (or double-tap, or zoom-in/out). Opening your eyes after three sounds will return you to the home screen. These functionalities are referred to as "Eye-Closing operations."

Operation Modes
Two modes are available to cater to various user needs.

  • Normal Mode:
This mode allows pointer operation via head movements, with click actions managed through Eye-Closing operations. Users can move their heads up, down, left, or right with closed eyes, then open their eyes for a swipe action. A head shake from left to right with closed eyes allows for back navigation.
  • Simple Mode:
A streamlined version that enables swiping instead of clicking through Eye-Closing operations. Users can select between vertical and horizontal swipes; for example, swiping right can be triggered by one sound, while swiping left can be indicated by two sounds (or vice versa).

Price
The Mezic application is available for free, though it includes advertisements.

About the AccessibilityService API
This API enables tap and swipe functionalities across other applications, forming the essence of Mezic's capabilities. The app does not collect any personal information through this API.

Supported Device Manufacturers: Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, Sony Xperia, Oppo, Xiaomi
Recommended Environment: Android 10 or later
